Let us tell you a bit about what we are working on. We hope to share our visions with you through our actions in Japan.

Support Project in Murayama, Yamagata

With close collaboration with local municipal government, we are rethinking how to rvitalize the local community.

Murayama City, Yamagata is located in the center of the prefecture, facing common challenges such as decline in population, aging society, and weakened communities as a result.

Murayama municipal government is aiming to sustain existing communities through various initiatives, which they are developing closer ties within its communities.

For instance, the city hosts "Cherry Supporters" program. Although the program does not provide participants with monetary compensations, each farm pays for room and board in exchange for help in cherry picking and shipping. The city and farms are offering "experience tourism" that attracts people from urban areas every year.

7seeds are trying to support these initiatives by providing flexible logistical arrangements that governmental organizations are having hard time making adjustments.

Our Projects

Bokke Club Project, Shichigahama, Miyagi
The town of Shichigahama, Miyagi is one of Tsunami-hit areas in Tohoku. Since 2011, 7seeds has been working in the town from the initial disaster relief to community development in more recent days.

During the course of almost 5 years, we met many people in the area. Naoya Suzuki is a fisherman who has lost his house and his fishing boat. He has received support from hundreds of people over the few years. He would like to convey his appreciation to the support by offering his catch at reasonable prices to create fans of Shichigahama.

We are supporting his initiatives through providing services such as e-commece site development, marketing collateral development, and logistics.

Mikuni Project, Bizen, Okayama

In search for a new form of rural agriculture, we are helping to develop a new community connecting the village and people outside of it.

Town of Yoshinaga, BIzen city, Okayama (Mikuni Area) is facing reduced labor force in agriculture and lack of successors for the business due to drop in population, and aging community. With TPP in place, the community is expecting more fierce competition. That is forcing the community to identify and develop innovative value-added crop.

7seeds Japan is planning on hosting study exchange programs and other tourism initiatives to bring students, tourist to the area. Mikuni has abundance of beautiful nature and traditional Japanese houses, which could be a great attraction. We will give you updates to the details of these tours once we finalize the plan.
